Bolton Crash Survivor's Harrowing Story: Georgina Daniels' Unforgettable Night (2026)

A survivor of the Wigan Road crash, Georgina Daniels, reflects on the tragic event that took the lives of four people, including her driver and three teenagers. She vividly recalls the moment, stating, 'For some reason, I remember every single second of it... I remember it as if it was 10 minutes ago.'

Daniels, a 28-year-old from Bolton, was celebrating her marriage with her husband, Tom, and their two close friends. Their lives took a devastating turn when they were struck head-on by another car, a Seat Leon, in the early hours of January 11. The crash resulted in the deaths of four individuals, including their 54-year-old driver, Mosrab Ali, and three teenagers: Mohammed Jibrael Mukhtar, 18, Farhan Patel, 18, and Mohammed Danyaal, 19.

Despite the tragedy, Daniels and her husband, along with their two friends, miraculously survived. However, the aftermath has been challenging. Daniels describes the scene of 'devastation' and expresses her disbelief at their survival. 'I can't fathom how we're all still alive – it should have taken our lives,' she says. 'I have no idea how we're all still here after seeing what happened to everyone and the state we are all in.'

The couple has endured multiple surgeries, and Daniels vividly remembers the entire traumatic event. 'Between [Tom and I], we’ve had four surgeries,' she says. 'It’s been a really difficult experience for all four of us [who were passengers in the taxi]. Tom remembers bits of it, a lot of it he doesn't remember. For some reason, I remember every single second of it.'

The survivors now face the daunting task of coping with substantial medical bills for long-term care. They have launched a fundraiser to support their needs, as insurance may not cover all expenses. Daniels, an NHS manager, emphasizes the mental toll, stating, 'As much pain as we’ve both been in, the mental side of it is one hundred times worse.'

The couple's future is uncertain, as they must navigate life-changing injuries and the possibility of long-term care. They are separated due to their injuries, which has been emotionally challenging. Daniels highlights the cruel reality of their situation, saying, 'We’ve never been separate for too long. Now it's our first year of marriage and we are going to have to live apart with life-changing injuries, with no end date.'

Despite the challenges, Daniels and her husband remain focused on the present, taking things hour by hour. 'We have no expectations, we are just living hour by hour,' she says. 'We are trying to be positive and trying to get back to how we were in those pictures. That's the only thing we can look forward to.'
